Release Your Moves CIC (R.Y.M) is a hybrid dance and support club that provides a safe space, for young people aged 11-18years to learn, keep mentally and physically fit and express themselves through the art of dance. We guide young people, strengthening their mental and physical health, and encourage the development of fundamental life and social skills whilst enhancing overall confidence and self-esteem.
A dance support club for young people to express themselves through dance and discussion for their mental health, fitness and to cope with the everyday struggles of being a young person. A therapeutic outlet.
At RYM, dance is a medium used to promote overall well-being through movement, discussion and good old fashioned fun!
We also offer a bi-weekly workshop called Reality Of My Life a great way to talk about life factors that are real in a safe space yet at the same time playing team games and learning about life topics you may need for a positive path.

A study titled 'Influencing Self-rated health among adolescent girls with dance intervention' was run by physical therapist, Anna Duberg from Örebro University Hospital, who is also a doctoral candidate at Örebro University in Sweden
They studied 112 teenage girls who were struggling with problems including neck and back pain, stress, anxiety, and depression. Half of the girls attended weekly dance classes, while the other half didn't.
The girls who took the dance classes improved their mental health and reported a boost in mood—positive effects that lasted up to eight months after the classes ended.
"According to these results, despite problems such as stress and other potential challenges in being an adolescent girl, dance can result in high adherence and a positive experience for the participants," says lead study author Anna Dubert, of Sweden's Center for Health Care Sciences, in a press release. "[This] might contribute to sustained new healthy habits."
In 2011, it was estimated that there were 21,000 children and young people in Croydon with some form of mental health need, rising to approximately 24,000 by 2021. It is estimated that there are nearly 11,000 children aged 5 to 16 with a mental health need. Children aged 11-16 years are more likely to experience mental health problems
Please donate to our club we solely rely on funding and donations to keep our club running and for the young people to come free of charge.
